Pidgin 2.8.0 telah dilepaskan dan membawakan pelbagai pembaharuan termasuk penambahbaikan dari segi kestabilan. Dengan munculnya Pidgin versi 2.6 yang dikatakan menyokong fungsi Google Voice & Video menerusi protokol XMPP, membuktikan telahan saya tempoh hari adalah tepat. Selain dari itu, Pidgin 2.6 juga menyokong tema dan perpindahan fail ke protokol lain seperti yahoo (yang sebelum ini mempunyai pelbagai ragam masalah).
